Ethiopian Food at Moya Cafe and Kitchens

New to Ethiopian food or already a fan? This guide walks through what to order at Moya Cafe and Kitchens, our Ethiopian restaurant in Bailey's Crossroads. Our kitchen draws on Ethiopian and Habesha culinary traditions, with dishes served on injera, a soft flatbread you tear and use to scoop up each bite.
How Ethiopian Dining Works

How Ethiopian Dining Works

Ethiopian meals are built around sharing, with several dishes served on or alongside injera. Order a few dishes for the table so everyone can try a little of everything, or choose a platter that combines several dishes.
Where to Start

Where to Start

Tibs is a good first order: tender marinated beef tips with jalapeños, onions, garlic and rosemary. Awaze Tibs is cooked with berbere, and Derek Tibs uses tender shoulder cubes marinated in our chef's blend and stir-fried with wine. For something bolder, try the spicy Kitfo or Key Wot, or Kuanta Firfir, beef jerky cooked in a light berbere sauce and tossed with shredded injera. Can't decide? Moya Especial brings several of our meat specialties together on one platter, and our Lunch Combination lets you choose any two lunch items.
Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten-Free Options

Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten-Free Options

Many of our dishes are vegetarian, and vegan and gluten-free options are available. Vegetarian Beyayinetu is an assorted platter of vegetarian dishes, a great way to taste several at once. You can also order Shiro, Misir Wot, Gomen Wot or Atkilt Wot on their own, or try Yetsom Firfir, shredded injera tossed in a vegetable sauce.
